Rum Flor de Caña (Nicaragua)

Rum Flor de Caña (Nicaragua)

Flor de Caña, which translates to "Flower of Sugarcane," is Nicaragua's leading rum.

In 1890, Francisco Pellas, whose family had achieved prosperity through sugarcane cultivation, founded the country's first rum distillery in the heart of his plantations. He soon began maturing small quantities in wooden barrels and sold them as a rare delicacy to enthusiastic and wealthy plantation owners. The business of fine and superior qualities was so successful that in 1937, the Pellas family founded Compañía Licorera de Nicaragua, which is still family-owned and operated in its fifth generation.

Today, Flor de Caña is one of Central America's most popular rum brands and is a source of national pride.

The quintuple distillation and the world-unique slow-aged aging process have made Flor de Caña one of the most highly awarded rums in the world.
